There are two options for this hike, which is part of the GMC's Long Trail Day. We will all start at the Long Trail trailhead on River Road in Duxbury. The first group will hike to the Duxbury Wiindow, a distance of 1.5 miles. Those who want to hike further will go another mile, just past the turnoff for the Bamforth Ridge shelter, to a small beaver pond which is a short distance off the Long Trail. Both options are rated moderate. Please contact Steve or Heather Bailey, stevecbailey@gmail.com for further details.
Websterville. Easy. Hike a four mile loop through some of the most scenic parts of the Millstone quarries, including the Rock of Ages lookout and a view of the one remaining working quarry. The fall is the best time to see these quarries, when the aspen trees will be in full color. We will move at a relaxed pace, as there are lots of photo ops along the way. Contact leaders Steve and Heather Bailey, stevecbailey@gmail.com, for meeting time and place.
Meet at Barnes Camp at 9 AM after parking in the lot across the road. Bring water, snacks, and work gloves. Dress for hiking and getting down and dirty. No experience necessary. Tools and camaraderie provided. Contact kunkelheidi@gmail.com. Please RSVP if planning to join.
