Below is the description of the event which was originally scheduled for April 9. Given the weather forecast, I am moving the event to the raindate, Sunday, and will meet participants at Rumney School – the parking lot off the road (rather than the one next to the school)– at 1 p.m. Please call or email me at the contact information below if you plan to attend. In addition, if you wish to carpool (for people who are fully vaccinated and masked in car) or caravan from Montpelier, let me know. \r\n\r\nAlso, I would recommend bringing a drink and a snack and wear hiking boots as the dirt roads will be muddy (and perhaps still covered in snow/ice on a small section). Hiking poles aren’t necessary (except helpful if there is still snow or ice on a small section of road) but I will bring them to get a bit of an upper body workout.\r\n\r\nRoad Walk. (Rain Date: Sunday, April 10) Middlesex. 5 miles. Minimal elevation gain. Bear Swamp Road. This loop (pavement and dirt road) passes the trailhead to Hunger Mountain and is a good warm up for hiking season ahead. Contact Leader: Phyllis Rubenstein, 802-793-6313 or Phyllis@ PhyllisRubensteinLaw.comcastbiz.net for meeting time and place.
